Charles Watelet educated by Portaels and Stevens. He was known as a painter of portraits, genre, and most importantly his figure portrayls of beautiful women.

In 1902 he began exbibiting in the "Salon des Artists Français". That the same year he was awarded the third class medal and in 1925, a gold medal. He was also a regular exhibitor in Brussels.

Watelet was proably best known as a teacher and his most famous pupil was Hippolyte, Paul Delaroche.
