Angelo Asti was a French painter from a family of Italian origins. He was renown for the beautiful women's portraits he painted in a traditional Italian style on silk.

While the 'Gibson Girl' was captivating Europe, Asti was captivating the American market through the new art-calendars being produced by Brown and Bigelow.

Angelo Asti produced the first 'pretty girl' calendar image, Colette, in 1904 in the style of Art Nouveau and the company sold more than one and a half million calendars. It was the beginning of the 'Pin-Up' and 'Glamour' style calendars we are so familiar with today.

Asti will always be known for his portraits of women and the enormous amount of postcards he produced.
